It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to create her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her debut and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that Healy was in motion.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
